Theme: Film Study: La misma luna
Day 1
Film Study
Materials:

- La misma luna DVD
- Journals
1. Handout La misma luna Study Guide questions.
2. Have students do a vocabulary exercise in partners to prepare them for the movie by translating a list of words/phrases that are in the film into English. Review these terms as a class.
3. Allow students to have time to review the questions in the Study Guide and ask if they need further understanding as to what the meanings of the questions they will be looking to answer as they watch.
4. Encourage students to write new words or phrases in their journals while they’re watching the movie so that they could be looked up later.
5. Watch La misma luna.in Spanish with English subtitles.
6. Stop the movie 10 minutes before class ends.
7. Give students time to review and fill in any questions in their Study Guides up until the point that the movie was turned off.
8. Allow students to ask questions about the movie to clarify understanding.

Film Study and Movie Review.
Materials:
2. Class discussion in Spanish- Did you like the movie? Why or why not? What was your favorite part? Who was your favorite character and why? Why do many people choose to cross the boarder illegally?
3. Movie Review! Provide a guide for students to follow as they complete this learning task. Students can imagine that they are a movie critic for the New York Times and they have been asked to review La misma luna for the Entertainment page. They will write a paragraph of at least 100 words containing a brief summary of the movie using the preterite tense to describe the plot, a discussion of its major themes, their personal evaluation and whether you recommend that others see it. They must also include at least three of the following verbs: ir, querer, venir, salir, dar, preferir.
